Milan Ivanič is from former Czechoslovakia. He studied at the Hollar School of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague before coming to the UK in 1970. He then lived and worked in Devon, Sussex, London, and Stockton, California, before settling in the North West of England in 1986. His work derives from close engagement with the landscape and culture of the British Isles, while retaining an accent of central Europe .

Ivanič sees his work as making ‘fields of marks’ which not only represent, but also materially embody meanings, tensions and emotions.

A picture that you can look at again and again and you get something new from it every time - that is what I am trying to do.

He has had one-man exhibitions at Keele University, Wolfson College, Oxford, The Clyde Bertrand Gallery, Stockton, California, Aston University Arts Centre, The Terrace Gallery, Worthing, and The BBC, Manchester. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions, and is in private collections in the UK, the US, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Australia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia .

He is included in Buckman’s ‘Artists in Britain since 1945’.

Work is for sale direct to collectors
